The Importance of Listening

Little Dynamo is very articulate.
Coming from his mom, others would smile and find it hard to believe and think that it’s just a result of my being HIS MOM:-) and dismiss my statement. LOL.
He speaks his thoughts and emotions clearly. To my and my husband’s constant surprise, he uses words and phrases like “I think“, “I [...]

Night and Day

For the past days, my Little Dynamo would wake up to:

Little Dynamo: Is it daytime now?
Me: Yes.
Little Dynamo: Why is it daytime now?
Me: Look out the window. The sun is shining now.
Little Dynamo: The sun is here now? Why?
and the whys go on and on… Sometimes, he would ask:

Little Dynamo: Where is my Daddy Love?
Me: [...]

Uncalled-for Angst of a Jealous Mom

Being far away from family and relatives, I had been so used to doing things my way and scheduling our own family time. My son’s playtime, playmates, hobbies and habits are mostly my discretion.
Now that my son is of age to know what he wants and when he wants it, he takes pleasure in the [...]

Wednesday Playgroup Farewell at Kid’s Cafe

Yesterday was our last playtime with Little Dynamo’s Wednesday Playgroup. For our farewell, the destination was Kid’s Cafe in Songpa-gu, Gangnam.
It is located inside the Olympic Park. For moms who would like to have a relaxing day, the Kid’s Cafe is an excellent alternative to the huge area inside the Olympic Park. Inside the Kid’s Cafe, [...]

The Best Laid Plans… are not always FOR the Best

My mother’s side of the family is deeply religious. It is not a quality I have inherited but I do hold on to my faith. Anyway, my aunt never fails to remind me that things happen in HIS time, not our time.
The surgery of my son and the activities I planned after the surgery proved [...]

It’s Over!

At last, we can move on!
I have written about recurring fever and VUR in my previous posts. But I haven’t really made any connection with these posts with our Little Dynamo. I guess this post will be the most personal post that I can write here.
Now that the surgery is over and the daily monitoring [...]

Learning about VUR

So, what is VUR? VUR stands for vesicoureteral reflux - this is a pediatric condition that allows urine to flow backwards - from the bladder to the kidneys - through one or both of the connecting tubes (ureters).
I have never heard of VUR before nor have known of any child diagnosed with this condition so [...]

Movie Date: Ice Age 3

Little Dynamo and I had a movie date last Friday.
I know how he loves dinosaurs. His dinosaur toys are everywhere in the house. They even accompany him on the dining table. So, when I checked on the movies last week and saw that Ice Age 3: the Dawn of the Dinosaurs was showing, we just [...]

Does your baby/toddler have recurring fever?

If there’s one thing I have learned from the health forums I visited recently, it is this: balance your trust on your doctor with your mother’s instinct.
A baby or a toddler who has recurring fever may be diagnosed with pharyngitis or throat infection. Doctors always say not to worry as pharyngitis is common to babies and [...]

“I Just Want to be a Boy”

My Little Dynamo loves to watch Super Why.
The school bus drops him off at 3pm in the house, then he would eat his snack and watch Super Why at 3:30pm before having his nap. He would sing to the Super Why song. Sometimes, he would say he is Super Why with the power to read.
As much [...]
