Extension of C4 Visa

Mother-in-law was granted a one month stay here in Korea for her C4 visa courtesy of her “modelling career”. The visa was set to expire on the 18th.  But due to hubby’s sudden (when was it ever not sudden?) business trip, we need her here at least until the 24th. Thanks to Jaz who sent [...]

A Free Rountrip Ticket

Mother-in-law is back! She is back with a free round-trip ticket for Manila-Incheon-Manila courtesy of her modelling “career”. It is a good story to tell – to her friends, her grandchildren, her grandchildren’s children. It all started with a phone call from Jaz. She phoned me one day asking if my mother-in-law was still here in [...]

Teleserye Marathon

Mother-in-law had a teleserye marathon today. And that, my friends, is why I love the internet:-). Pinoy Channel TV kept her entertained after spending hours (yes!) of taking care of my Baby Dynamo while I prepared my Little Dynamo for school and spent an hour in the gym. Don’t you just love grandmothers? Watching her [...]

Kinder Liebe: A Pre-school Option for Foreigners in Seoul

I found a pre-school for my Little Dynamo. Kinder Liebe.  I was overjoyed when I visited the place for the first time and discovered that the Directress speaks English. For a foreigner like me who doesn’t speak Korean, this is a relief and this is the most important factor in choosing my son’s pre-school.  Important too was the [...]

Weekly Grocery

One of our family time is doing the weekly grocery together. Since the opening of Lotte Mart in Lotte Castle which connects to the Gongdeok Station in Mapo-gu last year, we have been doing our grocery here. Not only is it near, it gives us the convenience that other Lotte Supermarkets cannot. It delivers our grocery for free. [...]

English Kindergarten for Foreigners

My Little Dynamo has a very positive attitude towards school. If you went to a school where your grandfather is the university president, I don’t think someone will make it a less positive experience for you:-). When I went back here in Seoul, I was hoping that Kinder Schule (where my son used to go [...]

Filipina Domestic Helper’s Rate

I think I will have to do without a helper… at least until I find a reasonable rate again. Six months ago, I was giving my part-timer 60,000-won for a 9am-6pm job. When I recently contacted my part-timer again, this time she was asking 70,000-won for the same length of time. She asked me if [...]

So Far, So Good

One week’s passed and gone. We did it! Clothes had been properly put in their respective drawers. Baby Dynamo has his own drawers for clothes. I was surprised to see how many clothes Little Dynamo has accumulated in all of his three years. To think that I have given out so many already. Now, some [...]

Baby Dynamo Granted an F3 Visa

Baby Dynamo is barely 3 months old. He was granted his F3 visa here in the Philippines by the Korean Embassy last February 19. A lot of Filipinos lament the Korean embassy’s strictness with visa application. The Korean Embassy is said to be rejecting a lot of application for tourist visas. Personally, I think it [...]
