One of the good practices that Little Dynamo got from school is praying. And so… since he started going to school, we have our bedtime prayer.

Now, aside from our bedtime prayer, he prays whenever he wants to… in the bath tub… in the car… in the church…

Wonder what he prays for?

“Lord Jesus, Lord Jesus… please do not let my mommy get angry at me.”

Little Dynamo: Mommy, I want chocolate candies.

Me: Nope, we don’t have chocolate candies.

Little Dynamo: Mommy, give me money so I can buy chocolate candies.

Me: Nope, we have a lot of food here.

Lola:  It’s ok, let him have chocolate. You don’t let him eat chocolate in Seoul.

Little Dynamo: (whining)

Me: Nope. No crying.

Lola: Come, apo. Ask Lola for money.

 The summer heat is here.

So, off we went to the nearest clubhouse in the city.

Little Dynamo and cousin had so much fun. He showed his swimming skill (he doesn’t know how to swim *wink*) to Lola and confidently believed that he was teaching his lola and cousin to swim.

I believe in instilling inner confidence. This will bring them a long, long way and allow them to see the world as their playground… they go about conquering one feat after another - stress-free.

copied verbatim from Mitch Albom’s “Have a Little Faith”:

From a Sermon by the Reb, 1975

A man seeks employment on a farm. He hands his letter of recommendation to his new employer. It reads simply, “He sleeps in a storm.”

The owner is desperate for help, so he hires the man.

Several weeks pass, and suddenly, in the middle of the night, a powerful storm rips through the valley.

Awakened by the swirling rain and howling wind, the owner leaps out of bed. He calls for his new hired hand, but the man is sleeping soundly.

So he dashes off to the barn. He sees, to his amazement, that the animals are secure with plenty of feed.

He runs out to the field. He sees the bales of wheat have been bound and are wrapped in tarpaulins.

He races to the silo. The doors are latched, and the grain is dry.

And then he understands. “He sleeps in a storm”.

My friends, if we tend to the things that are important in life, if we are right with those we love and behave in line with our faith, our lives will not be cursed with the aching throb of unfulfilled business. Our words will always be sincere, our embraces will be tight. We will never wallow in the agony of “I could have, I should have”. We can sleep in a storm.

“And when it’s time, our good-byes will be complete.”

Baby Dynamo is barely 3 months old. He was granted his F3 visa here in the Philippines by the Korean Embassy last February 19.

A lot of Filipinos lament the Korean embassy’s strictness with visa application. The Korean Embassy is said to be rejecting a lot of application for tourist visas. Personally, I think it depends on your purpose and the authenticity of your documents. It is a known fact that many apply for a tourist visa with the purpose of working in South Korea. Many of those are English tutors in the Philippines who would like to try their luck to work as (illegal) English tutors in South Korea. The problem arise in their documentary requirements, particularly the financial documents… and then they declare that the embassy is very strict. Without ample and authentic documents, what do you expect?

Four years ago, I also applied for a tourist visa. I submitted all the required documents and surprise!… instead of being granted a tourist visa, I was immediately granted a F-3 visa. It isn’t the standard procedure as F-3 visa holders should go through the process of being granted a tourist visa first and apply for a F-3 visa in South Korea. Anyway, it was a pleasant and a convenient surprise. I showed the lady accepting all visa applications at the Korean Embassy my case four years ago and she was surprised that I was granted the F-3 status instead of a tourist visa. For whatever it’s worth, Baby Dynamo was also granted the same status as I did.

I think the Korean Embassy is perceptive enough to evaluate and conclude that we are going to Seoul not just for a tour. So, instead of letting us go through the usual process of having a tourist visa first, they cut short the process for us and immediately granted us ur desired visa type. And it’s all in the documents that we submitted.

We are just counting the weeks. Little Dynamo, hubby and I are going to welcome our Baby Dynamo to our family life in Seoul. It’s one brave move! I will be assuming my role as the mistress of our house… without the perks our Philippine life is blessed with:-).

Anyway, dis-is-it!

When I decided to have my own hosted website, it wasn’t easy choosing a web host. There are so many webhosts in the net that I needed to rely on recommendations by friends and check on a web hosting directory to have a glimpse of the services and rates of the many existing web hosts.

For those who are contemplating to have their own web host, it would help to check on the various customer reviews. Aside from personal referral from friends, customer reviews are good sources from which a blogger could base his decision on.

It is very interesting to read on Webhosting 101 before one enrols himself into the service. There are many considerations in getting or not getting the service, which web host to get, and the specifications related to one’s needs. It may sound technical and may appear to be quite intimidating for the first-timers, however this is the way to go if one is to consider availing a webhost.

The family spent Valentines Day in Clark, Pampanga to watch the hot air balloon festival. All cars were headed the same way and so we had to contend with this:

We were welcomed by this:

We remembered not having taken our breakfast yet with this:

Mother-in-law blamed me for telling her not to prepare food anymore with this:

We wished for this coziness:

We were made to feel unprepared by this:

The annual Hot Air Balloon Festival attracts a lot of local tourists but it’s the roadside scenes which make it more interesting.

With hubby four-hours-by-plane away, there was nothing to expect for Valentines day.

But a sister-in-law was thoughtful enough to send these to mother-in-law, another sister-in-law and me:

Happy Valentines Day!

I just watched Boy Abunda’s interview with her inside the Big Brother House.

Not a minute has passed… I can’t stand it. I can’t stand her. I can’t stand the way she talks… incomprehensible. I can’t stand the way she looks when she talks… it’s not her ugly face, it’s her exaggerated mannerisms!

She was automatically in the Big Five. She was placed safe so she can’t be voted out. She could actually win if ABS-CBN so desires. Oh my… turn off your television!

Little Dynamo came down with a bad case of diarrhea. He’s better now, thank goodness!

He was not taking his medicines well. Giving him medicine was always a struggle. I had to cuddle him, kiss him, threaten him… name it! Take this episode:

Me: If you don’t drink your medicine, I have to bring you to the hospital. I will not sleep there with you. Only Lola will be with you. I need to take care of baby brother here in the house.

Little Dynamo: (just shaking his head, crying)

Me: The doctors will put IV on you. I can’t stop them. I can’t protect you there. They will force the medicine on you.

Little Dynamo: Where’s Lola?

Me: In her room.

He went to his Lola’s room, crying.

Little Dynamo: Lola, if I go to the hospital, will you take care of me?

Lola: Of course, apo. Why?

Little Dynamo: Mommy will not take care of me. She will take care of baby brother here in the house. What about Lolo? He will take care of me also?

Lola: Yes, of course, apo.

And the Little Dynamo went out of his Lola’s room with a firmer resolution not to take his medicine.
