I was already three months pregnant when I followed my husband here in Seoul in 2006 so our first concern was our drinking water supply. Before I came over, my husband just had to purchase bottled water. That wasn’t so expensive as he consumed minimal amount of water when at home. He was in the office the whole day, anyway.
Good thing, the Korean couple who was our friend way back in Manila came to explain to us about the water filters that was already installed in our apartment. When we transferred to another apartment, my very trusted and helpful Korean friend helped me in getting a water dispenser. I felt that with the use of this water dispenser, our drinking water is even safer as it uses several cartridges as water filters.
I remember way back in high school a science experiment on how to make a water filter for home use. I’m so glad we have a technology to purify the water we use… I just can’t rely on this home-made water filter for drinking. It may look clean but I am sure some dangerous water chemicals aren’t removed.
I realized that the water we use may have some effects on our hair. Do you have water filters in your shower? I never thought about this until I read the benefits of using shower water filter systems. My hair had been busiest (hairstyle changes) for the past three years compared with the other thirty years of my life combined:-). Aside from the chemicals from salon visits, there are just so many water contaminants that can’t be easily eradicated. I never thought that a shower head can be replaced by a water filter -which comes in different styles to fit the bathroom – and can substantially improve water quality by absorbing water contaminants.
