Fascination with Dinosaurs Brought Us To Seodaemun Museum of Natural History

My toddler loves dinosaurs. Any toddler who doesn’t?

Seeing my toddler with his dinosaurs and knowing how he adores them, my Korean friend arranged for our visit to the Seodaemun Museum of Natural History today. After her own toddler’s nursery class, she passed by my place to pick up Little Dynamo and me and off we went to the museum.

As the musuem is all about natural history, expect to see all kinds of minerals and rocks on display. I’m not into this so I breezed through this section which is located at the third floor. My son didn’t know where to start or which large dinosaur model to go to when we went to the outdoors of the third floor. We stayed there for quite a while as this was a hit to the kids. The second floor displays birds and animals… and dinosaurs. The Little Dynamo just kept on pointing and can’t seem to decide which to concentrate on. Case of visual overload for my toddler. But he was all smiles:-) When he had enough of the exhibits at the second floor, he asked for “the dinosaur movie, mommy”. Good thing there is a 3D dinosaur movie at the first floor. He kept on bugging me to watch the 15-minute 3D animation again.

But, what made my son’s day complete? He was able to bring home a Pterodactyl Dinosaur… a flying dinosaur which he never stopped eyeing until I gave in. I shelled out 6,000-won for that toy for these:

  • my son beaming with pride as he showed his new toy, “look tita Cristin”
  • non-stop playing with his dinosaur while we were having our afternoon snack at PoeTree coffee shop
  • I convinced him to go to the gym before dinner and aside from doing my weights, I was able to do my cardio while he enjoyed “scaring” his three 6-year old playmates in the aerobics room of the gym
  • and as I am writing this, his flying dinosaur is safely tucked beside him in bed – he endlessly played with it before dozing off to deep slumber

Time to be under the sheets with my Little Dynamo…

  2. “”i love the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum of Natural History in Washington DC… been there in 2006… their fossil collection is awesome and i would brag to my husband about it (he likes dinosaurs and astronomy)… oh but what i really liked most is their jewelry collection (i’m a girl!) – simply astonishing””

    @betchay

    wow.

btw, regarding your interest in jewelries…i know its every woman’s best friend 🙂 Finding a woman with very little interest in jewelries is as rare as finding a pink or red diamond 🙂

  3. hello betchay, skinedule nya na syang pumunta dito sa bahay ngayong hapon (tagalog baka mabasa e hahahaha). kaya nga tinext kita kung gusto mong pumunta dito sa bahay e. hahahaha.

  4. hello arvinsign, i did read on it.. just so i would be able to differentiate it to my son… took an online test hehehe re difference between the mouse and the rat… never figured it out.

re live samples: duh! i’m not too eager about it to let you send me live samples hahahaha.

  5. @arvinsign >> i love the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum of Natural History in Washington DC… been there in 2006… their fossil collection is awesome and i would brag to my husband about it (he likes dinosaurs and astronomy)… oh but what i really liked most is their jewelry collection (i’m a girl!) – simply astonishing

@wendy >> kunin mo na kasi… diretsahin mo na… yun nga lang kailangan niya pumunta sa house mo para isoli di ba?

    betchay´s last blog post..F floor?

  6. i saw the trailer, amelia earhart look alike nga, especially the hair 🙂 minus the shark bites (assuming she was eaten by sharks during the disappearance of her flight)

btw wendy, the difference between a mouse and a rat is basically the size plus their habitat. The rat is bigger while the mice usually never grow bigger than their average size. Both of which are called rodents, but classified as different species since they evolved quite differently.

If you want, i will send to you live samples with labels, just give me your address and ill send it door to door 🙂

  7. hi arvinsign, if i get to watch that movie i’ll probably just look into how they do dress up amelia earhart hehehe.

  8. hi betchay, i still can’t figure out the physical differences of a mouse and a rat. grabeh! show me a mouse and a rat, i don’t know which is which.

anyway, i thought my son’s over Mickey Mouse… but recently, he had been asking for his Mickey Mouse CD (di pa rin binabalik huhuhu). then, he would have an excuse to use the computer to watch Mickey Mouse:-)

  9. speaking of museums..im waiting for the showing of the “Night at the Museum II” (May 2009), this time the setting is the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum, one of the finest in the world for Natural History
