Greenhills Post Christmas Shopping

When we arrived in Manila last January 4, we passed by the Greenhills Shopping Complex teeming with people. It still displays its annual christmas show which can be viewed by the shoppers for free. It’s also a good distraction for children. Since Beth, my mother’s trusted day companion in Iloilo whom I borrowed for two weeks to accompany me and take care of my son, was not able to buy anything for her husband and sons, I asked my husband that we drop by the complex. I immediately gave her her two-week salary so she can buy what she wants. She was to go back to Iloilo the day after.

We learned that it was the last night of the the open-air kiosks. There were still many people there even though some kiosks were already packing up. I am not sure if the prices were substantially reduced since it was their last day, but Beth got a good immitation of a Lacoste shirt for her husband at P350.00. I didn’t see what she brought for her two sons but the two shirts cost her only P150.00. I also got a very nice looking skirt for a toddler at P180.00. I brought it back here in Seoul as my birthday gift to my friend’s daughter:-)

A lot of celebrities buy their stuff from the tiangges in Greenhills. I remember one sexy starlet, in an interview, exclaimed “Kakapiranggot lang naman ang damit ko, bakit mahal pa ang bibihin ko?” To each his own, of course. Other celebrities would opt for signature brands. Though I am sure, many are secretly buying their things there. Greenhills prides itself by being shopped at by international singers Rihanna and Chris Brown after their concert there in the Philippines last year.
